Christopher Stavris was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. He attended Monsignor Farrell High School before graduating from St. John's University. Mr. Stavris attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School, at Western Michigan University in Lansing, Michigan.

Mr. Stavris grew up in the Dongan Hills area of Staten Island in and around the Berry Homes apartment complex. As a result of his upbringing in a multi-cultural community, Mr. Stavris enjoyed numerous friendships with people of diverse races, ethnicities, and walks of life. He learned that people, no matter what their race, color, creed, or economic status, all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Mr. Stavris considers himself to be a very fortunate individual but at the same time realizes that he is one with the people he represents. It is this philosophy and outlook that makes Christopher Stavris unique from other attorneys, and it is this philosophy that is instilled in every attorney associated with The Stavris Law Firm. Professional Development

While he was enrolled at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School at Western Michigan University, Mr. Stavris interned with The Innocence Project for two semesters. This particular Innocence Project is responsible for the exoneration of four wrongfully convicted persons after all had served more than a decade each in prison for crimes they did not commit. The project provides legal assistance to and attempts to secure the release of persons who are wrongfully imprisoned. The national work of various Innocence Projects has been credited with the release of over 350 wrongfully accused prisoners through the use of DNA testing.

Previously, Mr. Stavris volunteered his time for the Arizona Justice Project, which is located at Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law. Since 1998, The Arizona Justice Project has been helping to overturn and prevent wrongful convictions in the State of Arizona. The Justice Project examines claims of innocence and manifest injustice and provides legal representation for inmates believed to have been failed by the criminal justice system. The Arizona Justice Project also works for policy reform, to strengthen the criminal justice system and minimize the likelihood that wrongful convictions will occur in the first place. Mr. Stavris is also a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers

Current Practice

To date, Mr. Stavris has made numerous appearances throughout Arizona on misdemeanor matters from DUIs to shoplifting. He has also worked on felony cases such as murder and manslaughter, theft, embezzlement, and sexual assault. Mr. Stavris is experienced in appellate court practice and has represented hundreds of clients before the Arizona Court of Appeals. He routinely handles juvenile matters, both delinquency and dependency, and has represented clients in several high-profile criminal and juvenile court cases, many of which were covered by news media networks.
